Learning is Fun Train (LiFT ^SM )


Give your young learners a LiFT with this memorable field trip on the Niles Canyon Railway

Use this fun, 60-minute, railroading pre­sen­ta­tion to reinforce and reward your students' educational activities in history, social studies, transportation, geography, reading, arithmetic, music, or nature studies.

Following that is a ride on antique rail cars over six miles of the First Transcontinental Railroad route through Alameda Creek Canyon. On the journey to Niles, the train crew points out interesting sites along the way and talks about the roles that railroads played in settling and developing the West.

On the return trip to Sunol, youngsters should do a prepared, age-appropriate, on-board activity. You may select from the Operation Lifesaver ™ exercises (check the Learning Aids link at the left) or prepare your own.

The Learning is Fun Train (LiFT ^SM) program is designed for parents, teachers, camp counselors, and elementary through middle-school students. Young people must be accompanied by an adult or be part of an adult-supervised group.
